A merica is on the move 24/7 in cars and trucks, and on motorcycles, on the country's highways and byways as well as at all sorts of race venues. Supreme tools of mobility and competitive enterprise, such mechanized vehicles can develop a fan base among owners and would-be owners. Witness countless race and non-race events -- shows! -- throughout the land. In particular, shows range from evening get-togethers of localized hobbyists, to major annual industry exhibitions in metro areas such as Detroit, New York City, Chicago, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. In between, there are events like the annual weekend program for hobbyists and the drag race community in Henderson, North Carolina, promoted by the state's Vance County Tourism Department, an organization that one day hopes to open a drag racing museum. Billed as the East Coast Drag Times (ECDT) Hall of Fame Reunion, the 11th Annual gathering was held October 19-21, 2012.
