2.  The Flemington Speedway closed as a racing venue in year 2000 and the property it occupied is now a mall.  All the sport and creative engineering out the window, replaced by brick and mortar retail!  It started up as a fairgrounds horse track and cars first raced on it in 1915, four years after the first Indianapolis 500.  There is now a gallery devoted to Flemington's history at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs, PA.  The Historical Society (FSHS) and its members take part at county fairs, parades, and automotive events like this 8th Annual Carshow.  New members are welcome.  Check out the Society's website.
